Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 哲学系学生肖墨到殡仪馆实习，试图探寻“生死”答案，却遭遇导师陈辉离奇死亡。村里流传一口“应声井”可让人起死回生。陈辉之子死于事故后，陈辉在古井许愿，次日离奇失踪。肖墨随神秘殡葬师老白头返村调查，老白头以科学逐一破解“灵异”现象：井中尸体、养女上吊、浓雾里的鬼打墙等怪事背后皆是精心布局的骗局。当执念遭遇科学，谎言被真相撕裂，众人方知真正的深渊不在井里，而在人心。
