灵与欲

　　Set in an underground dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged human beings, after the nuclear holocaust. The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart.　　Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory?　　n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in.　　What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts.　　On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired.　　One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places.　　Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.

　　一名刺客手持木棍闯进太子府，行刺未果，却散布谣言，说自己握有太子谋反的证据。三皇子声称要助太子调查案情，进驻太子府，实际却命锦衣卫将太子府团团围住，任何人不得出入。太子明白自己又一次陷入郑贵妃精心布下的圈套中，面对渐渐显露的杀机，他无从化解……而此时，王恭妃却执意要将兰心梅儿贬黜回家，任她如何哭泣哀求也不愿收回成命。王恭妃究竟是在为太子雪上加霜，还是另有隐衷？

　　两名高等法院的法官遭杀手谋杀，法学院高材生达比（朱莉娅•罗伯茨 Julia Roberts 饰）随后开始调查此案，起草一份该案的报告，名为《塘鹅报告》。达比找到了记者格兰（丹泽尔•华盛顿 Denzel Washington 饰），因为他是最后一名见到其中一名法官的人，希望能得到他的帮助调查此案。一天格兰接到了一个神秘人来电，此人自称知道谁是该案凶手，格兰跟踪到了此人，可惜未能拦下他。　　此时，总统暗中命令相关人士不要插手此案。格兰由此起疑，随后调查到了总统和马氏集团关系密切，而且一切证据都表明，马氏与两位法官的死有着千丝万缕的关系！

　　故事发生在20世纪的30年代，雷（西恩·潘 Sean Penn 饰）是当时红极一时的爵士乐传奇人物。由于早年生活困顿，成名后雷养成了挥金如土的恶习，压抑许久的他放纵自己迷失在由金钱和美女组成的奢侈世界里。　　一位名叫海蒂（萨曼莎·莫顿 Samantha Morton 饰）的普通洗衣女工深深的爱上了雷，愿意为雷付出一切，而雷亦对单纯的海蒂抱有好感。可是，此时的雷并不想过早的走入安定的家庭生活，更何况，雷可是一位艺术家啊，对于艺术家来说，婚姻难道不正是灵感的坟墓吗？就这样，雷和海蒂渐行渐远。之后，雷娶了性感妖娆的作家布兰奇（乌玛·瑟曼 Uma Thurman 饰），却发现布兰奇是比自己还要放浪形骸的“交际花”。直到此时，雷才想起了海蒂的好，可是雷没有把握，这个单纯可爱的女孩如今还会一如既往的包容他，接纳他吗？
